About the Event
India and Singapore share one of the most robust economic partnerships in Asia. Singapore has been one of the leading sources of FDI into India, with cumulative inflows of approximately $170 billion as of 2024-25.
Recent years have seen a significant surge in Singapore’s interest in India’s infrastructure landscape, encompassing roads, ports, aviation, renewable energy, telecommunications, data centres, and industrial and logistics infrastructure.
The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) has invested over $28 billion in India, with funds being channelled into road assets, green energy projects, and power transmission platforms. Several Singaporean firms are investing heavily in India's clean energy transition, including wind, solar, and energy storage projects. There are also specific collaborations in green shipping corridors.
Event Highlights
PSA International has made significant investments in India’s ports sector, with its largest investment being the recent $1.3 billion expansion of PSA Mumbai. State governments in India, including Maharashtra, have partnered with Singaporean entities like Surbana Jurong to plan and develop urban infrastructure, smart city projects, and new industrial corridors.
Singapore's Temasek has also been actively pursuing investment opportunities in India. Its portfolio value has reached $50 billion to date, including Singtel's stake in Airtel. The firm has already deployed over $6 billion of the $10 billion earmarked for India by 2026-27. In recent years, CapitaLand Investment has also become heavily involved in developing business parks, logistics hubs, and data centres across major Indian cities.
India’s investment landscape has evolved favourably for foreign investors. The current FDI policy permits 100 per cent foreign investment under the automatic route in most infrastructure sectors. Investors are also attracted to the strong growth prospects of the Indian economy.
