India's demand for gas is expected to almost double by 2030 to reach 115 BCM. By 2050, the demand for gas in the country is expected to rise to 170 BCM. The consumption of natural gas in India is forecasted to escalate at a CAGR of 12.2 percent to attain a figure of 550 MCMPD by 2030 from 174 MCMPD in 2021. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), in India the consumption of natural gas is expected to enhance by 25 BCM, registering an average annual growth of 9 percent until 2026. India's industrial gases market is estimated to expand rapidly in the following years till 2026.
