Since its inception in 2017, NigeriaTex has been committed to fostering professional trade communication in the textile industry. It has become the preeminent annual showcase for reliable textile brands that align with global trends. In 2026, NigeriaTex will take place concurrently with the Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF). This year, hundreds of textile brands from manufacturers will participate actively in 2026 NigeriaTex in the advanced O2O Exhibition mode. Event Highlights
Nigeria, Africa's largest economy and most populous country, with over 216 million people, enjoys a growing population and economic strength that underpin its purchasing and consumption power. The country is in the early stages of industrialization, with 90% of goods reliant on imports, making it a prime consumer market. Nigeria is China's second largest export market and third largest trading partner in Africa, with imported textiles dominating the Nigerian market, accounting for up to 85% of share, of which 95% of textile and clothing products are sourced from China. The top three product categories are clothing, wax-printed fabrics, and footwear. Nigeria's textile industry remains underdeveloped, despite West Africa being the world's fifth-largest cotton-producing region, with cotton prices half those of the US, China, and India. To address this, the Nigerian government has been planning to establish a special economic zone dedicated to the textile and clothing industry since 2018, indicating Nigeria as a market with significant growth potential.
